Overview
This tool was developed to support Corgan’s Environmental Design Research group in reducing the manual effort required for LEED credit documentation. Gathering and evaluating the data needed to satisfy LEED criteria, particularly for site-based metrics like access to public transportation, is typically time-intensive and contributes to project overhead.
The tool streamlines this process through automation, structuring data collection and analysis into a repeatable workflow. Development is organized into phased components, with the initial phase focused on evaluating access to public transit.
To ensure applicability across different project locations, the tool leverages harmonized datasets with global coverage. Transitland serves as the primary source for transit system data, providing information on stops, routes, and schedules. This data is queried and processed, then combined with walking distance calculations using Mapbox’s routing API.
The resulting outputs include standardized, upload-ready CSV tables, along with supporting PDFs and interactive maps that summarize transit accessibility for a given site.
